The Investiture Controversy

The Investiture Controversy was started by the rivalry of Gregory VII (the king) and Henry IV (the pope), about the authority of who can appoint bishops in 1876, Gregory tried to invade the Henry but died in the process, at the end the king did not get to choose who gets to be bishop, the church was still under the rule of the king, Thomas Bucket was a friend of the king of England(Henry II ) , so when the Archbishop died he was given the title of Archbishop, the only thing is that Thomas was very connected to his role, so when the king(Henry II) invaded he protected the church no matter what, Thomas didn’t die and that that the church and the king got into a peaceful agreement, unfortunately Henry II called some guards to assassinate him, later he admitted that he did it

Building a crystal radio

The steps to build a Crystal radio is to first get a base of the project, second is to get the materials, third is to build it These steps didn’t work because I didn’t have the materials Unlike the crusaders I only did this once and nearly succeeded

Knighthood And Chivalry

A Knighthood is part of two political system, the Feudal System hierarchy and the service of the king’s army. A Knight’s duties are to protect those who can’t protect themselves The title of Knight was originally given to people who did service’s of a king or monarch, and considered as a lesser noble. The Code of Chivalry was established for the knights, it’s a necessary standard to be a knight, it promotes bravery, kindness, and loyalty Chivalry and Knighthood was ended when the Renaissance happened  

The Holy Roman Empire

The Holy Roman Empire was formed by Otto the first, Otto became the duke of Saxony and king of Germany in 936 AD, he quickly united his dukes and made them his vassals (Vassals are dukes who are loyal to the king, In 951 AD Otto heard of another way of increasing his kingdom which was that the Widow Queen of Italy was in danger from her oppressors and then rescued her which then crowned him king and married the Queen of Italy, In 955 AD Otto was invaded by the Magyars/Hungarians, Otto managed to defeat the Magyars but at a cost him three of his most important members of his family was killed, including his son which was to be his heir, which then Otto named his two year old son Adelaide and made his new heir, the defeat of the Magyars allowed Otto to conquer and expand his country East, which also allowed Christianity to spread towards the East, Pope John the twelfth got into trouble and called Otto for help, Otto agreed to help but that he would get the title the “Holy Roman Emperor...

Erik the Red

Erik the Red was born in Norway, but after his father got banished the family moved to Iceland, Erik grew up, got married, built a farm, and established a family, but he was to much like his father and after ending a brawn in manslaughter, he was banished for many years and found Greenland, he established his own colony, and returned with wonderful stories when he came out of his exile, he knew the land was not that nice so he named it Greenland to make it sound more appealing, which convinced some of his colonist to move to Greenland, while Erik the Red is known for finding Greenland, he is most remembered by his son Leif the Lucky

Charlemagne

Charlemagne got his name from his grandfather Charles Martel and got titled as Charles the Great, which was translated to English as Charlemagne, at 771 AD Charlemagne’s brother died, which gave him the other half of the kingdom, Charlemagne fought against the Muslims, sieged the Saragossa, Hispania, Corsica, and the Sardina’s, from the French, and conquered the Slav’s and Arar’s, there is also a book about him when his rearguard was defeated in spain called the “Battle of Roncevaux”, He was also crowned king because he defended Pope Leo 2 from prosecutors which then crowned him, after Charlemagne died his co-emperor Louis the Pions became emperor

Byzantine (Justinian The Great and the Eastern Roman Empire)

Justinian The Great was the most powerful and successful ruler in the Byzantine/Eastern Roman Empire, He ruled from 527 – 565AD Justinian was a farm boy, until he studied under his uncle Justin at age 16, who was a general at the time, after the emperor died Justinian’s uncle turned into the Emperor, so it was excpected for Justinian to be the next king, when Justinians uncle died Justinian took the role of emperor. Justinian expanded the Eastern Roman Empire to include North Africa, defeating the Vandal tribes living there, it would remain Roman until it fell to the Moors, at 532AD the city of Constantinople revolted against Justinian, but he successfully put down the revolt and remained emperor, Justinian made the first codified Roman Law, which was named the Code of Justinian, The Code became the basis of the imperial law in Byzantium until 1453AD, Justinian also help build a giant cathedral known as the Hagia Sophia at 537 AD After Justinian death, the military ran to thin ...
